The class will focus on the prairie
habitat at Brewster. After sampling the soil, we'll explore the
greening of the prairie restoration plots. Then with nets and bug
jars in hand we'll look for insect life. We'll also look for tracks
and other evidence of larger creatures that visit the prairie. Limit

Wildflower
Week Nebraska Wildflower Week, coordinated by the
Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, will be observed June 3 - 11, 2006.
The aim of Wildflower Week is to increase awareness and appreciation
of wildflowers and native plants in the wild and landscapes.
Fontenelle Nature Association is joining in the festivities with
several educational programs.

It is
prime wildflower season... and a prime time to learn about them.
This month we will be joined by Neal Ratzlaff and Roland Barth,
authors of "Field Guide to Wildflowers: Fontenelle Forest and Neale
Woods Nature Centers" for an informational session on what
wildflowers you might see at Fontenelle Forest or Neale Woods.
Following the presentation, we will go on a wildflower hike with FNA
volunteer Eric Scholar.

Tuesday, June 6th Building the Neale
Woods Butterfly Garden: Why and How Neale Woods Nature
Center 7 - 8 p.m. Ages: 12 and older Cost: Free to FNA
members, $3/discounted admission for non-members.
June is the
perfect time to see the butterfly garden at Neale Woods Nature
Center - the flowers are amazing, the butterflies are numerous and
there are even a few hummingbirds. FNA Ranger Erin McFadden will be
presenting on why the garden was established, how it was completed,
and what flowers were chosen specifically for a butterfly
garden.

Wildflowers Katherine and Fred Buffett Forest Learning

Woodland wildflowers are in bloom!
Naturalist Norm Toenjes will show you how to identify these woodland
wonders along the trails.

Join us for our annual celebration of Native American
music and dance featuring Brule. Take the free shuttle from the
Southroads Mall parking lot. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. No
coolers or picnic baskets allowed; food and beverages will be
available for purchase from Famous Daves. No refunds on tickets.
Members only ticket special: Now through April 30th, FNA members
can get tickets for $10 each! From May 1st - June 10th, FNA members
can get tickets for $20 each. Non-member tickets are $25 each. Click
